February & March 2022 Wrap Up

 

Hello, fellow book lover! I hope everyone is doing okay. I missed last month's update due to a lack of motivation. Honestly not feeling the whole reviewing of books, but I know I just need to push through this little slump/dark hole I'm in. Life has been okay but my mental state hasn't been great. With that being said, I have defaulted to audible books & doing a comfort re-read of the Addicted/Calloway series. Just got an itch for the Core 6. Anyway, Feb & March were somewhat heavy on reading. I utilized Audible for Throne of Glass, House of Earth & Blood, and The Bridge Kingdom. Let's dive into the new reviews!

interesting twist to mythology--I do adore that mythology gods are starting to get their modern-day stories written. My second book on Hades & Persephone, it did not disappoint!! I truly enjoyed the sassy spitfire that Persephone was around Hades. He was awesome too. I do think the storyline was a bit quick, but I could look past that for some clever bantering & decent level of spice. I did not go into this series knowing it would be a little on the kink side. No complaint tho. I enjoyed my reading & will definitely be checking out the other dark Olympus books.

Mind blowing good--I don’t even know where to begin with this book. The ending will have you rolling. I can’t wait for book 3. Sarah has taken her world-building to an entirely new level or galaxy. I am in awe & want to cry at the same time. Tears of sadness & joy. How can she do this to the characters & then give us the readers such a mind-blowing scrap of what will be to come in book 3. This was so much better than my first attempt at reading CC 1. I was invested from page 1. I adore all the characters. Bryce & Hunt deserve so much. I loved Ruhn & his clan. I loved the scheming. I did see a few of the twists but that ending will mess you up in the best & worst ways. So kudos to you SJM. You’ve done it again

Interesting story…I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers so of course I had to give this a go. I did so it in audible format & feel like I probably miss details. Hopefully nothing major because I’m already downloading book 2!! The end left me so excited for the next one. Lara & Aren have an interesting dynamic & of course that had to challenged at the end. Im hopeful they’ll work everything out though.

January 2022 Wrap Up 😋💥📚⛄

One month down, only 11 more to go until the end of the year. I feel like January went on forever. My workload at my job is picking up so I'm losing time for reading :( Very disappointing but I'll start traveling so my time to read will be much better in February! Thank goodness, because right now I'm 1 book behind schedule 😦 Anyway, January wasn't terrible reading wise, I got 4 new reads done. You already know how much I enjoy these authors. I adore the little pride that’s being built. Ryder is pretty close to being my fav. I love the moodiness & his friendship with Gabriel. Don’t get me wrong all 4 boys are fabulous. They’re everything you’d want in book boyfriends. I love how they all are with Elise too. Leon is still a witty guy, Dante the lover boy, & Gabriel is even opening up so much more. I’m very happy that it all worked well for them in this book UNTIL THE LAST CHAPTER. I’m now sprinting to the next book because I need answers & a certain fae helped/rescued ASAP

Madship for life--I didn’t know I needed this book until I started reading it. I was so salty we didn’t get an ending for Madship & the gang. Well, Amo delivered the perfect ending. I’m so happy I found Silver Swan all those years ago. Hard to believe it’s been 6 years of these emotional rollercoasters Amo creates. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. You get a look into all the kings. We get to see their blossoming families & a nice little ending to hold us over until we dive into the next generation of Kings. 2023 can NOT come fast enough. I don’t wanna leave this messy world

dark & twisted--I read Amos trigger warning & I was still not fully prepared for all the dark & twisted things that happen in this book. I was appalled by what some of these characters are put through. Amo definitely went down a spiral & her work was brilliant like always. I will say I did figure out who K Diamond & James were. ;) I won’t spoil it for anyone but I was proud to see it coming. I was also hesitant about the taboo side of the story but it’s just fiction & in the end I love a good HEA.

We did it! We made it through 2021. I hope everyone had a safe & healthy holiday season. Hard to believe we're now into 2022. I will say this year is starting off better than last year. It's nice to say my dad has recovered from heart failure. It's truly a miracle. I did manage to surpass my Goodreads challenge. 65/50 books read isn't too shabby. My last stretch in December was with 4 new reads. Zodiac Academy #7 ripped my heart out & was a whopping 987 pages. I dabbled in Priest a pretty popular smutty adult novel in the bookish community. Read below to see my thoughts on all these books :)

The peace sign really?? Ugh where is the peace!? Certainly not found in This book. Be prepared for a BRUTAL ending. I’m talking heart-wrenching. Gah, we get so so so much out of this big bad boy. 989 pages of STORY. I mean we’re getting people from ruthless boys & I just ADORED that. We get to see the twins grow so much. We see the heirs creating stronger bonds. All the support characters are chefs kiss. I mean can we talk about my sassy boys Gabriel, Leon, & Orion. Love them!

We see the inside of the vile creature that is Lionel. I loathe him & will forever loathe him. I am not prepared for the final book whenever that comes. I need answers & I need them now. I want a redo & emotional stability, please. Kudos to these authors. Idk why I keep coming back for more & more heartbreaking cliffhangers. Oh, that’s right I get attached to their brilliant characters…

My heart may never heal from this trauma....please let there be redemption & light at the end of the tunnel in the last book.

I’m hopeful we get some answers in the next book but I know it’s a long path to the end. I can’t wait to see how Elise changes the kings some more. I really hope the seal Ryder & Dante struck will go away…but all in all pretty good book & can’t wait to read more!

4.5 stars of heartbreak-- I don’t know why I’m surprised that these two throw their readers down a dark pit of emotions. I loved every moment of the fall though. UGH, I really just need answers but each book ends with more questions. Obviously, I still adore Leon & Dante. But we got Orion this book too!!! Loved that & see him & Noxy forming their friendship <3 Moody Ryder was of course amazing & I'm so sad for him at the same time. Off to the next book of despair…

Interesting story--I am not a religious person & this book intrigued me. Outside of the smut & I mean there’s a lot of it, I was impressed with the author's use of religion to help the main character, Tyler, work through his emotions & sins. Obviously, that’s expected since he is a priest but I still found it interesting. I enjoyed this book. I did think it moved quickly at times but all in all a quick easy romance read. I would recommend it to a friend.

I hope everyone had a wonderful start to the holiday season. We are one month away from 2022! Can you believe it? This year flew by but I'm also still thinking it's like 2010 era. Weird, but anyway I did get through quite a few books this month! 4/7 were from the same series. Not pictured as a November read was In Silence She Screams by Amo Jones. I already made a blog post & IG post, but I still want to mention it for my Wrap Up & the link will be copied below :) The last two books were Booktok recommendations, of course. They weren't too bad honestly & you'll hear why in my reviews. Let's dive in!

I am intrigued by this dynamic with the boss/employee trope. I do enjoy the sweet side of Wolf and I’m happy to see Abbi loosening up a lot. Can’t wait to dive into book 2.

Book 2: Break Me⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don’t know why but I just love the billionaire trope. It just really entertains me. I loved seeing Abbi come out of her shell & experience life to the fullest. I’m salty with Henry but not surprised he went the bad guy route. Luckily he had his moment to be the hero & he definitely took it. I’m already sprinting to book 3.

Book 3: Teach Me⭐⭐⭐⭐

I do love that Henry is doing everything he can to show her how much he cares. Sometimes I feel like he’s just throwing money at her but all in all, I know he means well. I do wish Abbi’s mom would stop being a real witch. She needs a reality check ASAP. Hopefully, book four wraps everything up nicely.

Book 4: Surrender to Me⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book really builds up quite the story. I’m honestly amazed at everything that happens. All the drama, smut, fantasy, and twists really keep you engaged. I’m glad Abbi got some confidence. Wolf started being more open & honest. Abbi’s mother stopped being so horrible (she still does shady things in the beginning). I adore Margo. She is a huge reason this book was so entertaining. I am begging for a Ronan novel though, please? I want more of him & id like to see his story. Honestly though be ready for a wild ride with this book. SO MUCH HAPPENS. I’m kinda salty with the way it ends but it’s left open so maybe the author will come back for more (I hope).

A Veil of Truth & Trickery⭐⭐⭐1/2

3.5–knock off ACOTAR--I’m giving this book a 3.5/5 rating. I follow this author on TikTok. I loved the concept of a reverse harem ACOTAR. I was intrigued & wanted to see how that played out. Well, I’m still waiting to see because I finished the book & didn’t get what I had thought was a reverse harem. Maybe that’ll come in book 2. I was disappointed in the content. The storyline is different enough to not be a copycat ACOTAR but the basic story/plot is similar in a way. I did like reading the book & wanted to know more about the characters & fae realm. I’m holding out for book 2 to be better. I know book one in ACOTAR was rough so there’s hope still for this series. All in all, though I didn’t hate the book I also didn’t love it.

The Last Strike⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

Feel Good Romance--Okay, so booktok fyp had me view a video from this author about the book. Needless to say, she reeled me in with her witty commentary & story behind why she wrote this book. I was entertained the entire time I read this! I’m doing 5 stars solely because I enjoyed what I read & the characters made me laugh. This book does have grammatical errors & sometimes the storyline gets weird/speeds up a lot. I overlooked that because I just wanted a quick fun romance novel. That is what I got with this book. I would recommend it to a friend or coworker. The acknowledgment to Sarah J. mass was pretty awesome too.

The first ten pages of this book had my mouth on the floor shocked. I was thinking what did I just read. I love that about Amo's books. You never know just how much mind f*ckery there will be. I knew this book was going to be a huge rollercoaster. I got some definite Black Widow vibes from it was given Lilith's history. I adore Eli! He is such a sweet little crazy cinnamon roll. Kyrin is everything you'd want in a psycho bloodthirsty, touch her & I'll kill you boyfriend. He & Eli really balance each other out & I love it. Now, Lilith? She's freaking awesome. I love her. She is moody, sarcastic, & IDGAF attitude. I always enjoyed reading her POV. I loved seeing her interactions with the EKCs. Brantley & Nate's commentary on Eli's relationship was hilarious! I really miss my kings & can't wait to read the second generation next year ;) All in all, I was very entertained throughout this book. Be prepared for a whirlwind of emotions & lots of WTF & uhmm seriously???? What the heck were you thinking moments. But like always, I'm down for everything Amo wants to put me through.

I liked getting to see the relationship bloom between Luca & Thorn (love her name). Overall it was a pretty standard romance. I did love getting some insight into Pyre & Tempest lives. Damien making an appearance of two was awesome! I am interested to see how the rest of the twisted kingdom novels play out

kitsulletti for lyfe--I put off reading this book because I didn’t want to wait so long for the next book. I am so happy I waited because that ending is driving me to the next book. I truly miss this world & I adored getting to see Ryke, Daisy, Loren & Connor. I still freaking love Connor cobalt. Seeing him support Akara just further justified my love. I do wish Kits wasn’t so stubborn but it’s understandable. I don’t fully grasp the polyamory thing but I’m learning with the characters so that’s awesome. I’m super pumped to get to witness Sulli doing her thing in the next book. I also guessed where the mole was hiding their stuff, go me! Marrow is still everything and I can’t wait to see how all the other core 6 children will grow :)

round of applause--It’s been so long since I’ve read a book that made me cry. This book did it. I was an emotional roller coaster. Wow. Kitsulleti ended up being more than I ever expected. I am now in dire need of a Core 6 re-read because I don’t want to leave this lovely world the Ritchie sisters have created. I mean the drama and dreams that were met in this book & don’t even get me started on the epilogue. Ugh, I can’t wait to read Luna & Donnelly’s story. I want another Marrow book too. I want more Jane & Thatcher…I NEED CHARLIE’S STORY! I miss the Cobalts. I loved how accepting Daisy & Ryke ended up being too. Ugh, this book really came full circle and I’m so happy I got to read it & experience everything the triad did.

September 2021 Wrap Up 🍂🍁🍎🧡

No, you're not dreaming. I am actually posting my September Wrap Up on time! I know it's a fall miracle. Anyway, September was the month of the Zodiac Academy & let me just say...these books put me through an emotional ringer!! Like I don't think I've been this frustrated with cliffhangers since my SJM days. I was livid after a few of these (you'll see in my reviews) & I even complained to my fiance about them repeatedly. He took it like a champ, but honestly, I love this series. I am once again extremely thankful for Booktok. So far, it's got a great batting average on recommending me series. I must say I'm not too thrilled to have to wait for the next book to come out (December 18th). Without further ado, let's dive into my thoughts on everything Zodiac Academy.

Well done--Wow, I devoured this book. I couldn’t wait to read about the next testing. I loved seeing all the drama come into play against the heirs. I am struggling to fully dislike the heirs because man do they make good antagonists. Like I want to hate them but for some reason, I can't get myself to truly loathe them. I know it was only a matter of time before Diego showed his true colors too ;) I will say I’m concerned for a certain forbidden romance but I guess we’ll see how that plays out...I’m excited to see how the Vegas’ order plays into the next book!

I am glad Diego got a good character arc because honestly I was concerned and called my suspicions from book 1. I’m terrified for what comes next but I will be finishing the next book ASAP. I NEED ANSWERS. I need good things to happen, please!!!

Also, why can't they defeat the freaking evil scum that is Daddy Acrux & his little minions. I am ready for that to come to an end ASAP. Also, the price is TOO HIGH. There better be a loophole in book 7. That's all I'm going to say. I am not prepared to face that fate & I know my fav group of rebels will fight their hardest to fix this little hiccup. And WTF happened to Darcy??? I am not ready for whatever that shoe is to drop.

On a happier note, I adore the heirs. I am so extremely happy they've been there for Darcy. The heirs' character growth is amazing. The fact that Seth & Darcy can be besties basically is my favorite thing. Seth is literally the human equivalent of a puppy. I really hope he & a certain vampire can figure their crap out. I also hope that Darius can find peace & happiness. I know he & Tory are set up for failure but I REALLY need them to pull through with more than what has been set up for them. Gabriel & Xavier are some of my favorite people. Gabby is just awesome & he is def the best seer ever. I love his witty commentary & his knack for being a sassy boy. Xavier is just a hoot. I love his thoughts on being the head Dom & I'm intrigued to see how his fight for that goes. I know he'll push through. You know who snuck up on me & I'm enjoying? Max. I did not expect to like him so much. Out of all the heirs, he seemed very much on team Anti-Vega, but seeing him help Tory & Darcy is spectacular. I am extremely worried about what this next book will bring & even sadder about the fact that it's not coming out until December!!

Well...I'm late to my wrap-up post again. Sigh, I'm determined to make my September Wrap Up post sooner than these last two. I have a whole month of new reads & I might've fallen down another Booktok rabbit hole and it was SO WORTH IT. I can't wait to dive more in-depth into the Zodiac Academy next month. For now, I've finished up another Booktok series by Kennedy Fox & finished the Bishop Brothers series. Let's dive into them.

I loved seeing all of Courtney's family & Drew interacting with everyone. I adored getting to see Travis & Viola as parents. Guess who wasn't surprised by that turn ;) The ending of this book was everything I need & I can't wait to see what else happens for Courtney & Drew. I'm also not overly sad about losing a certain someone. I really enjoyed the duet for these two & I'm thrilled to read about Logan & Kayla.

Skylar is adorable. I love getting to see the trio of gal pals & loved all the doggo talk. That ending however will mess you up. I can’t wait to read the next book because like dang!!! Give me more!!

Also, how many times can someone send the wrong text to people?! C'mon Kayla you can do it lol. Logan's daughter is adorable & I love that he gets more time with her. I adore how much she loved Kayla & the role she played in helping out. I'm also so happy Kayla got her dream to come true & she found her path. Getting to see Viola & Courtney with Kayla is wonderful & the boys' relationship is enjoyable as well. All in all, I enjoyed this duet, but I did get annoyed with it too.

Changelings were outlawed hundreds of years ago but I guess our birth parents didn't get the memo. Which means we're totally unprepared for the ruthless world of Fae.

Once again, thank you Booktok. Not sure I would’ve come across this series without it. I’m interested to see how the rest of this series played out. I’m always down for some academia enemies and supernatural books. The twin sister dynamic of Darcy & Tory is great. I love when siblings get along. The heirs are heathens and I really hope the twins get their powers figured out so they can put the spoiled brats in their place. I’m not 100% sold on Diego either. I wanna like him but he seems a little suspicious. I suppose we’ll see how it all goes in book 2. The elemental magic paired with zodiac signs & shapeshifting is super fun and unique and I really enjoy it!!
