Official Review: Boneyard Tides ⭐✮⭐✮

 Boneyard Tides

By Amo Jones
Aphotic Waters Book 1

Boneyard Tides --> Free in Kindle unlimited

About Boneyard Tides:

“Go on, Puppet. Let’s see if those sexy legs can run as fast as they can spread…”

Boneyard Tides, a dark why-choose romance from USA Today & Wallstreet Journal Bestselling author Amo Jones is now available on Kindle Unlimited!

Picture this…you’re sitting by the ocean, sipping your favorite cocktail. The sun is setting over your skin, the sound of waves crashing against the sand offers the perfect background music for the mellow reggae tunes that play through the salty air. Life is good. You have a best friend who seems to be a better friend to you than he is a boyfriend to his girl, your mom is calling your phone to ask what time you’ll be home for dinner, and your current “plaything” is too busy flirting with another girl in a desperate attempt to see if you care. Pathetic. But you don’t care because the sand is between your toes, your surfboard is freshly waxed, and you are one hundred percent sure that your life is perfect.

It was all perfect, right? Except Hades Hollow would never be perfect. This was a town built on old stories that were planted, grew, and eventually rotted here. It was a vicious cycle of rebirth. The stories would never die…not at least until the real one had been told. It all started with a game. The kind of trickery that poisons your heart because it knows the mind is weak.

One was my nemesis, a genre-meddling musician.

One was as scary as he was charming.

And one was a billionaire.

I mean, I knew that, right. I knew who they were…

I was about to find out the hard way that I didn’t know anything at all.

I hope you know how to swim...Beware of the cliffhanger...you'll be left dangling over the edge of an ocean that might just try to drown you...perfectly sums up this book 1 of Amo's. In typical twisted Amo fashion, be prepared for some dark and twisted confusing stories that will leave you with more questions than answers and an ending that leaves you reeling & saying wtf just happened? I loved it. I can't wait to read book 2. I am intrigued to see how this little reverse harem plays out because Shiloh definitely has her hands full & so do the guys. Hades Hollow has a lot of skeletons in its waters and I can't wait to see them all come ashore in the next few books...Amo doesn't leave anything out.

Introducing -- Moody Two Shoes: Shadow & Bone Review

Happy new year everyone! To start off 2023, I am trying something new. I'm opening the blog for guest writers to post their thoughts on books and other bookish topics. The idea came from a request from the IG account, moody_two_shoes. Their information will be further down in their post. I love the idea of sharing my space with like-minded bookworms. It's been a challenge for me to come onto the blog to post the same content every month...probably noticeable since I did not blog for most of 2022. I'll share more about what I was up to in 2022 in a later post, so without further ado, please give a warm reading welcome to Moody Two Shoes & their review of Leigh Bardugo's Shadow & Bone trilogy.

The Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo: A Review

If you're looking for an immersive, action-packed fantasy series to sink your teeth into, look no further than Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone trilogy. Set in a war-torn world of Orcs, humans, and magical creatures, the books follow Alina Starkov, a young woman who discovers she has the power to summon light—a power that could be the key to defeating the forces of darkness that threaten her world.

In the first book in the series, Shadow and Bone, we see Alina's journey from orphaned mapmaker's apprentice to the most powerful person in the world of Grisha is both thrilling and heartwrenching. As a child, she is taken in by an orphanage after her parents are killed in a rock slide. There, she meets Mal, a young boy who quickly becomes her best friend. They are separated when they are both drafted into the army, and Alina is left to fight for her life on the frontlines. However, she soon discovers that she has the power to control light and shadow, and she is whisked away to become a student at the elite school for Grisha.

But as her power grows, so too does the danger that surrounds her. And when dark forces threaten to destroy everything she holds dear, Alina must find the strength to save her friends and stop the coming war. Along the way, she learns that love can be both a blessing and a curse, and that even the most ordinary people are capable of greatness. Alina's journey is one that will stay with readers long after they turn the final page. The books are expertly paced, full of unexpected twists and turns, and populated with a diverse cast of fascinating characters. I especially enjoy the way that author Leigh Bardugo weaves magic and mythology into the stories.

If you liked the first book in the Grisha Trilogy, Shadow and Bone, then you'll definitely want to continue reading the story. The next two books, Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising, follow Alina's journey as she tries to stop the Darkling, a powerful sorcerer who wants to harness her power. In these books, you'll get to see more of the magical world that Bardugo has created, as well as meet new and interesting characters. I highly recommend reading these books if you're looking for an enjoyable and exciting read.

If you're looking for an exciting fantasy series to get lost in, I highly recommend Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone trilogy. I have always loved fantasy stories, and so when I heard about Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone trilogy, I knew that I had to read it. I was not disappointed. The world that Bardugo has created is rich and detailed, and her characters are both complex and compelling. I particularly enjoyed the way that she had woven together elements of Eastern European mythology with her own unique vision. The result is a truly original fantasy series that I will be sure to revisit again in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone trilogy! I loved the world she created, and the characters were so well-developed. What I loved most about the Shadow and Bone trilogy was its engaging story. From the very first book, I was hooked and eager to find out what happened next. The story of the Shadow and Bone trilogy was rich and complex, with a huge cast of intriguing characters. My favorite characters in this story were Alina Starkov and the Darkling. Alina is the heroine of the story, and I loved watching her grow from a scared orphan into a powerful magic user. The Darkling is the villain, but he's also one of the most magnetic and fascinating characters in the trilogy. I loved reading about his complicated backstory and motivations, and I was rooting for him even as he was doing terrible things. The other characters in the trilogy are also well-developed and interesting, but Alina and the Darkling are my favorites. Every time I turned the page, I discovered something new that pulled me deeper into the world of the Grisha. And even though I knew how the trilogy would end, I still couldn't put the books down until I reached the final page.

When I first started reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew that it was a fantasy series, but I hadn't read anything by Leigh Bardugo before. I was pleasantly surprised by the world that she created. It was rich and detailed, with an interesting cast of characters. I particularly enjoyed the secondary characters that she created. They added depth and complexity to the story, and I found myself rooting for them just as much as the main characters.

Another part of the trilogy I really enjoyed was the world that Leigh Bardugo created in the Shadow and Bone trilogy, the world of the Grisha. I loved how complex and detailed it was, and how there were so many different cultures and places to explore. I also thought the magic system was really interesting and unique. I can't wait to read more books set in this world, and I hope we get to see more of Alina's story in future books. Thanks for creating such a great world!

February & March 2022 Wrap Up

Hello, fellow book lover! I hope everyone is doing okay. I missed last month's update due to a lack of motivation. Honestly not feeling the whole reviewing of books, but I know I just need to push through this little slump/dark hole I'm in. Life has been okay but my mental state hasn't been great. With that being said, I have defaulted to audible books & doing a comfort re-read of the Addicted/Calloway series. Just got an itch for the Core 6. Anyway, Feb & March were somewhat heavy on reading. I utilized Audible for Throne of Glass, House of Earth & Blood, and The Bridge Kingdom. Let's dive into the new reviews!

Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1)⭐⭐⭐⭐
By: Katee Robert

About Neon Gods:

He was supposed to be a myth.
But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell... he was, quite simply, mine.

Society darling Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start over far from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses. But all that’s ripped away when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, the dangerous power behind their glittering city’s dark facade.

With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil’s bargain with a man she once believed a myth... a man who awakens her to a world she never knew existed.

Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he’s spent years craving, it’s all the excuse he needs to help her—for a price. Yet every breathless night spent tangled together has given Hades a taste for Persephone, and he’ll go to war with Olympus itself to keep her close…

A modern retelling of Hades and Persephone that’s as sinful as it is sweet.

interesting twist to mythology--I do adore that mythology gods are starting to get their modern-day stories written. My second book on Hades & Persephone, it did not disappoint!! I truly enjoyed the sassy spitfire that Persephone was around Hades. He was awesome too. I do think the storyline was a bit quick, but I could look past that for some clever bantering & decent level of spice. I did not go into this series knowing it would be a little on the kink side. No complaint tho. I enjoyed my reading & will definitely be checking out the other dark Olympus books.

House of Sky & Breath (Crescent City #2)⭐⭐⭐
By: Sarah J. Maas

About House of Sky & Breath:

Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar are trying to get back to normal―they may have saved Crescent City, but with so much upheaval in their lives lately, they mostly want a chance to relax. Slow down. Figure out what the future holds.

The Asteri have kept their word so far, leaving Bryce and Hunt alone. But with the rebels chipping away at the Asteri’s power, the threat the rulers pose is growing. As Bryce, Hunt, and their friends get pulled into the rebels’ plans, the choice becomes clear: stay silent while others are oppressed, or fight for what’s right. And they’ve never been very good at staying silent.

In this sexy, action-packed sequel to the #1 bestseller House of Earth and Blood, Sarah J. Maas weaves a captivating story of a world about to explode―and the people who will do anything to save it.

Mind blowing good--I don’t even know where to begin with this book. The ending will have you rolling. I can’t wait for book 3. Sarah has taken her world-building to an entirely new level or galaxy. I am in awe & want to cry at the same time. Tears of sadness & joy. How can she do this to the characters & then give us the readers such a mind-blowing scrap of what will be to come in book 3. This was so much better than my first attempt at reading CC 1. I was invested from page 1. I adore all the characters. Bryce & Hunt deserve so much. I loved Ruhn & his clan. I loved the scheming. I did see a few of the twists but that ending will mess you up in the best & worst ways. So kudos to you SJM. You’ve done it again

The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom #1)⭐⭐⭐
By: Danielle L. Jensen

About The Bridge Kingdom:

Lara has only one thought for her husband on their wedding day: I will bring your kingdom to its knees. A princess trained from childhood to be a lethal spy, Lara knows that the Bridge Kingdom represents both legendary evil - and legendary promise. The only route through a storm-ravaged world, the Bridge Kingdom controls all trade and travel between lands, allowing its ruler to enrich himself and deprive his enemies, including Lara's homeland. So when she is sent as a bride under the guise of fulfilling a treaty of peace, Lara is prepared to do whatever it takes to fracture the defenses of the impenetrable Bridge Kingdom.

But as she infiltrates her new home - a lush paradise surrounded by tempest seas - and comes to know her new husband, Aren, Lara begins to question where the true evil resides. Around her, she sees a kingdom fighting for survival, and in Aren, a man fiercely protective of his people. As her mission drives her to a deeper understanding of the fight to possess the bridge, Lara finds the simmering attraction between her and Aren impossible to ignore. Her goal is nearly within reach, Lara will have to decide her own fate: Will she be the destroyer of a king or the savior of her people?

Interesting story…I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers so of course I had to give this a go. I did so it in audible format & feel like I probably miss details. Hopefully nothing major because I’m already downloading book 2!! The end left me so excited for the next one. Lara & Aren have an interesting dynamic & of course that had to challenged at the end. Im hopeful they’ll work everything out though.

January 2022 Wrap Up 😋💥📚⛄

One month down, only 11 more to go until the end of the year. I feel like January went on forever. My workload at my job is picking up so I'm losing time for reading :( Very disappointing but I'll start traveling so my time to read will be much better in February! Thank goodness, because right now I'm 1 book behind schedule 😦 Anyway, January wasn't terrible reading wise, I got 4 new reads done. You already know how much I enjoy these authors. Let's jump right into it!

Broken Fae⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Series #4
By: Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

About Broken Fae:

Me and my kings have come as close to breaking as I ever could have feared.

Just as we were finding a way to get past our difficulties, the stars have torn us apart. Can I fight against the will of the heavens or does fate have something unforeseen in store for me now?

While we'e reeling from the wheel of fate and trying to find a way to move on with our lives, our enemies are only growing more powerful.

Felix Oscura is haunting Alestria with his bloodthirsy need to steal the power of the clan he was never destined to rule over. And the illusive King is growing closer to their goal of taking control of the entire city and maybe even beyond.

With challenges around every corner and the mysteries behind my brother's death slowly starting to unravel, will I be able to piece everything together and find a way to overcome the will of the stars before it’s too late?

Not okay…round of applause. It’s been a minute since I read a book that had me stopping every few pages because it made me anxious &/Or excited. This book was awesome. I adore the little pride that’s being built. Ryder is pretty close to being my fav. I love the moodiness & his friendship with Gabriel. Don’t get me wrong all 4 boys are fabulous. They’re everything you’d want in book boyfriends. I love how they all are with Elise too. Leon is still a witty guy, Dante the lover boy, & Gabriel is even opening up so much more. I’m very happy that it all worked well for them in this book UNTIL THE LAST CHAPTER. I’m now sprinting to the next book because I need answers & a certain fae helped/rescued ASAP

Warrior Fae⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Series #5
By: Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

About Warrior Fae:

I once thought one of my ruthless boys could be the killer I’m hunting. They’re all dark, deadly and more than capable of brutality.

But now I’m held by the King I’ve been stalking in the shadows and when I unmask him, he’ll realise he made a huge mistake in taking my brother from this world.

My Kings are coming for me, I know that in my soul. They’re on their way to rip me from my enemy’s arms and tear him apart for me.

My heart beats to the sound of their names.

But I won’t wait around to be rescued. Everything has led me to this moment and I’m ready to destroy the Fae who stole my brother from me.

Secrets will be uncovered. Destiny will be decided. Death will deliver us all in the end.

No one will escape the conclusion of this story without blood on their hands. I guess it’s a good thing I’m a Vampire then, because I just so happen to have a taste for blood.

Start with series with book one, Dark Fae.

insert content sigh--Thank you so much for not completely destroying my heart. I am a happy reader for now. And thank you for the many epilogues! I’m gonna need that RJ story sooner rather than later please!!! So many things happen in this book & im not going to spoil it but just know you will laugh and cry and rejoice and probably repeat it a few times. But never fear trust the stars & destiny will play out ;)

Ruined Castles⭐⭐⭐⭐
Elite Kings Club Series #8
By: Amo Jones

About Ruined Castles:

Nothing is going to make sense once you flip open this first chapter. You’re going to wonder why the fuck I made the decisions I did. Why he did what he did. I’m not going to make this easy for you. I’m going to guide you through loops that you’re going to wish I had just skipped, but I’m not going to do that either. You’re going to feel my pain, my loss, and my heart breaking in my chest. You’re going to watch me trip and fall, and get back up again. You’re going to wish you could slap the shit out of Bishop and me, but among all… I’m going to take you back to when I left the love of my life, and ran.

This is an open letter to you.

Good luck.

Mads
Xo

Madship for life--I didn’t know I needed this book until I started reading it. I was so salty we didn’t get an ending for Madship & the gang. Well, Amo delivered the perfect ending. I’m so happy I found Silver Swan all those years ago. Hard to believe it’s been 6 years of these emotional rollercoasters Amo creates. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. You get a look into all the kings. We get to see their blossoming families & a nice little ending to hold us over until we dive into the next generation of Kings. 2023 can NOT come fast enough. I don’t wanna leave this messy world

Sicko⭐⭐⭐
Standalone
By: Amo Jones

About Sicko:

He was my foster brother.
He swore to protect me.
He failed.
They all failed.
I’m an open box of passé photographs, snapped in chaste daylight, but filtered in sepia. I’m the past that he tried to forget, and he was the future I needed. When he left six years ago, I screamed for him every night. But then it all stopped. My screams were suddenly muffled by cruelty, and further coaxed by pain.
But he has come back. He’s not the cute big brother I had a furtive crush on, or the bad boy, rich brat that I hated to love.
He’s the ruthless vice president of Wolf Pack MC, and he doesn’t answer to Royce Kane anymore.
He answers to Sicko.

dark & twisted--I read Amos trigger warning & I was still not fully prepared for all the dark & twisted things that happen in this book. I was appalled by what some of these characters are put through. Amo definitely went down a spiral & her work was brilliant like always. I will say I did figure out who K Diamond & James were. ;) I won’t spoil it for anyone but I was proud to see it coming. I was also hesitant about the taboo side of the story but it’s just fiction & in the end I love a good HEA.

December 2021 Wrap Up⛄❄🎄🎁

We did it! We made it through 2021. I hope everyone had a safe & healthy holiday season. Hard to believe we're now into 2022. I will say this year is starting off better than last year. It's nice to say my dad has recovered from heart failure. It's truly a miracle. I did manage to surpass my Goodreads challenge. 65/50 books read isn't too shabby. My last stretch in December was with 4 new reads. Zodiac Academy #7 ripped my heart out & was a whopping 987 pages. I dabbled in Priest a pretty popular smutty adult novel in the bookish community. Read below to see my thoughts on all these books :)

Heartless Sky⭐⭐⭐⭐
Supernatural Beasts and Bullies #7
By: Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

About Heartless Sky:

The winds of fate are shifting, and it finally seems like they’ve been twisted in our favor.

On the run and cast out from society, we’ve been forced to hide from the mad man who stole our throne. But as more secrets come to light and my sister and I work harder than ever before to reach our potential and claim our birthright, the end is finally drawing closer.

There is no turning from this path now. The curse chases on our heels as time rushes by and the blood-drenched destiny of the man I love looms ever closer just like the monster who stole our throne.

We must prepare for the final battle, but three things are clear now.

The cards have already been dealt.

Blood will spill for a new future to rise.

And the stars themselves can’t help us.

The fight for the throne is upon us. All hail the heartless sky.

The peace sign really?? Ugh where is the peace!? Certainly not found in This book. Be prepared for a BRUTAL ending. I’m talking heart-wrenching. Gah, we get so so so much out of this big bad boy. 989 pages of STORY. I mean we’re getting people from ruthless boys & I just ADORED that. We get to see the twins grow so much. We see the heirs creating stronger bonds. All the support characters are chefs kiss. I mean can we talk about my sassy boys Gabriel, Leon, & Orion. Love them!

We see the inside of the vile creature that is Lionel. I loathe him & will forever loathe him. I am not prepared for the final book whenever that comes. I need answers & I need them now. I want a redo & emotional stability, please. Kudos to these authors. Idk why I keep coming back for more & more heartbreaking cliffhangers. Oh, that’s right I get attached to their brilliant characters…

My heart may never heal from this trauma....please let there be redemption & light at the end of the tunnel in the last book.
Savage Fae⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Series #2
By: Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

About Savage Fae:

There's more to my brother's murder than I realized...

Shadows in the halls, mysteries lurking around every corner.

Whoever killed him is covering their tracks well.

And now I'm walking a dangerous line between getting close to the four kings for information and wanting to crawl deeper under their skin for my own desires.

I can't trust anyone.

I can't let my guard down.

And I must keep the urges of my body separate from my heart.

But I'm starting to break all of my own rules.

I just hope I'm not falling for my brother's killer.

I need more!!--I’m so happy Elise has confided in someone. I wish she’d open up some more but I’m pretty sure it’s coming in the next book (I hope). I just adore the kings. They are awesome in their own way. Leon & Dante are awesome. Gabriel & Ryder are a bit rough but I know they’re softies underneath. I’m hopeful we get some answers in the next book but I know it’s a long path to the end. I can’t wait to see how Elise changes the kings some more. I really hope the seal Ryder & Dante struck will go away…but all in all pretty good book & can’t wait to read more!

Vicious Fae⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Series #3
By: Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

About Vicious Fae:

The King will fall.

While I continue my hunt for the Fae who killed my brother, I have to try to keep my heart away from the vicious boys who could be responsible for his death.

But as my investigation leads me down a dangerous road and answers seem closer than ever before, I'm whisked away to the elite school, Zodiac Academy, with the four Kings and my heart, becomes more vulnerable than ever.

4.5 stars of heartbreak-- I don’t know why I’m surprised that these two throw their readers down a dark pit of emotions. I loved every moment of the fall though. UGH, I really just need answers but each book ends with more questions. Obviously, I still adore Leon & Dante. But we got Orion this book too!!! Loved that & see him & Noxy forming their friendship <3 Moody Ryder was of course amazing & I'm so sad for him at the same time. Off to the next book of despair…

Priest⭐⭐⭐⭐
Priest #1
By: Sierra Simone

About Priest:

There are many rules a priest can't break.
A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I've always been good at following rules.
Until she came.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.

***Priest is a standalone, full-length novel with an HEA. For mature audiences only.***

Interesting story--I am not a religious person & this book intrigued me. Outside of the smut & I mean there’s a lot of it, I was impressed with the author's use of religion to help the main character, Tyler, work through his emotions & sins. Obviously, that’s expected since he is a priest but I still found it interesting. I enjoyed this book. I did think it moved quickly at times but all in all a quick easy romance read. I would recommend it to a friend.
